Description: The 74HC4051 is a single pole analog octal switch (SP8T) suitable for analog or digital 8:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer applications. The switch has three digital selection inputs (S0, S1 and S2), eight independent input/outputs (Yn), one common input/output (Z) and one digital release input (E). When E is high, the switches are off. The inputs contain clamping diodes. This allows the use of current limiting resistors to connect inputs to voltages via VCC. Features: Wide analogue input voltage range from -5V to +5V Complies with JEDEC standard 7A Low duty resistance: 80 Ohm (typical) at VCC - VEE = 4.5 V. 70 Ohm (typical) at VCC - VEE = 6.0 V. 60 Ohm (typical) at VCC - VEE = 9.0 V. - The 74HC4051 is an 8-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer with 3 digital selections (S0-S2), active low release (E) and 8 independent input/output (Y0-Y7)) and a common input/output (Z).
- When E is low, one of the 8 switches is selected by S0-S2 (low impedance state). When E is high, all switches enter a high-impedance state and ignore S0-S2 directly.
- VCC and GND are the supply pins for the digital control terminals (S0-S2, E). The VCC to GND range of the 74HC4051 is 2.0V to 10.0V.
- As a digital multiplexer/demultiplexer, the VEE is connected to GND (usually grounded).
